Technological Boost for Agriculture!

There's the Arnia System, Koubachi Plant Sensor Pro, the Infragram Project......all designed to capture data in agriculture production. This could be what the Caribbean needs to boost its Agriculture Sector...

I'm excited...and will be following this Project.

Trade wars?

The US Department of Commerce has denied a request from Intel to sell its Xeon and Xeon Phi processors to Inspur, a company located in China. These chips are needed to upgrade the supercomputer Tianhe-2.

See the news article here on BBC's website:

...and also here on The Register:

Now watch the Tianhe-2, according to NDTV in 2013, it was 'the world's most powerful system'!!!

Going green...

A car dealership in St. Lucia featured an electric car at the OECS Go Green Fair.

This is what the Nissan Tekna or Nissan Leaf looks likes:

Electricity is deemed perfect for fueling cars because it is cleaner and cheaper than oil, helping us to take our social responsibility to a whole new level!

'Creepy, crawly' cockroaches to the rescue!!

Biobots (robots designed to mimick the structure of biological organisms) or in this case, cyborg cockroaches are expected to be the creative asset in search and rescue missions. Imagine cockroaches outfitted with tracking gear and microphones assisting in disasters like earthquakes or tsunamis.....will the real MacGyver please stand up?

                                                                     www.nbcnews.com

Who would have thought a cockroach to have this much value. They were chosen because they're small and are able to crawl into places that humans and dogs can't fit. Some of these cockroaches are even fitted with heat seeking devices to detect the warmth from human bodies.

Look at this CNN news clip

http://edition.cnn.com/videos/tech/2015/03/30/cyborg-cockroaches-find-disaster-survivors-orig.cnn/video/playlists/digital-studios-topicals/

Heres another CNN clip posted in 2012

Looks like the development of this idea is proving to be quite difficult. Comparing these news clips, it seems not much was done in 2015 as was done in 2012. (or unless the news was recycled??)

Either way, if implemented this could be quite beneficial if used to find people in disasters. It also gives a new meaning to 'man's best friend'; cockroaches would be more valuable in saving a life!!

Now,the only ethical question would be 'Are we destroying cockroaches, in order to save ourselves?'
